Description
-
Also known as 'Guardian of the hunter', this spirit carries bush meat back to the home. It holds the animal by its feet, with the head resting across its shoulder. The bushmeat appears as a monitor lizard, still a source of bushmeat in Ghana today. The piece also demonstrates the craftsmanship and cleverness of the artisan, allowing the figure to rest on a single leg without the carving falling over.
